Dr. Christina Harris is new Program Director of Internal Medicine Residency Primary Care Track

Dr. Christina E. Harris, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine, is the new Program Director of the Primary Care Track of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Harris replaces Dr. Judy Tung, Director, Weill Cornell internal Medicine Associates (WCIMA) and Associate Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Harris is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and completed her residency training here at Weill Cornell Medical College. She joined the WCIMA practice in 2006, where she currently also serves as one of its Associate Medical Directors.

A graduate of our Internal Medicine Residency Primary Care Track, Dr. Harris has been extremely active clinician educator within our Graduate Medical Education programs. Prior to becoming Director of the Primary Care Track, she was Assistant Director, and serves as a faculty advisor and one of the Associate Program Directors of the Residency Program.

The Primary Care Track has been a part of the Weill Cornell Internal Medicine Residency Program since 1989. Primary Care residents rotate through most of the same inpatient and clinical rotations as categorical residents, but with additional dedicated time devoted to primary care internal medicine as part of the WCIMA practice. The Primary Care Track trains residents to develop excellence in clinical practice and to foster areas of interest within the scope of academic general internal medicine. These areas include clinical research, medical education, medical ethics, public health, and health policy. The program accomplishes these goals through a comprehensive educational curriculum, intensive clinical practice, structured research projects, and exposure to a wide range of one-on-one mentors. Graduates of the program are well poised for careers as general internists, clinician-educators, and clinician-investigators. Further details of the Primary Care Track can be found here.
