Life in New York City
Weill Cornell Medical College and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/ Weill Cornell Medical Center are located in the heart of New York City, one of the world's foremost capitals of science, culture, arts, and business. Situated in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, overlooking the East River, Weill Cornell enjoys one of the loveliest residential neighborhoods in the city. The area is safe to live and work in and public transit is readily accessible. The FDR Drive straddles the hospital, linking the Northern and Southern ends of Manhattan to Queens, Westchester County, New Jersey, and Long Island.
Numerous markets, restaurants, stores, theaters, and other amenities are within a few minutes' walk. Also nearby are the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Central Park, Carnegie Hall, Times Square, Broadway, The Museum of Modern Art, The Frick Collection, The Asia Society, The Hispanic Society, numerous art galleries, and the great strolls along Madison and Fifth Avenues. Students partake liberally of the great opportunities of New York, from Yankee Stadium to Lincoln Center to SoHo and Greenwich Village.
Central Park, one of the great urban parks, is within walking distance of the hospital. The Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park festival provides free shows in the Delacourt Theater, and the Summerstage music series provides a series of free concerts ranging from Brazilian pop to gospel to salsa. The New York Philharmonic regularly gives concerts on the recently remodeled Great Lawn. We invite you to explore the resources to the right for more information about New York City.
