Lia Logio, MD, Appointed Vice Chair for Education and Residency Program Director

Lia Logio, MD, has been appointed Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Medicine and Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Known for her energetic and innovative approach to residency training, she currently serves as Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Indiana University School of Medicine, where she is also the Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development. The Department of Medicine welcomes Dr. Logio, who will arrive in the spring of 2010.

Dr. Logio received her MD from The Johns Hopkins University and completed residency training in internal medicine at Duke University Medical Center. Her teaching honors include: the Sol Goldman Award in Geriatrics from Johns Hopkins; nomination (twice) for the Eugene A. Stead Teaching Award as well as the Golden Apple Teaching Award at Duke; the Haskill Schiff Award for Excellence in Clinical Medicine and an Engel Society Faculty Inductee at Duke; and an Outstanding Teacher Award in General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics from Indiana University. She has served as the Editor of Board Basics for the American College of Physicians and as a Contributor to its Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program.
