In Memory of Dr. Desiree Pardi

The Department of Medicine is saddened to announce that Desiree Pardi, MD, PhD, died peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2009.
Dr. Pardi was an inspiration to all of us, enriching our lives and making us all better for having had the privilege and joy of working with her.

Dr. Pardi attended medical school at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and served her internal medicine residency at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center from 2002 to 2005. She did a fellowship in Pain Management at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. In 2006, she was named Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, and Medical Director of the Palliative Care Consult Service at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell. Dr. Pardi was board certified in both Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

She was beloved by the medical students whose lives she touched in her many teaching activities. She was tireless in her efforts to enhance pain management and palliative care services and worked closely with the house staff towards this end.

Funeral services were held today, September 9, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Thomas More, 65 East 89th Street (between Fifth and Madison).
