The Department of Medicine is pleased to announce that Dr. Sal Cilmi has been appointed an Associate Program Director for the Department of Medicine's residency program. Dr. Cilmi will continue to be a full-time member of the department's Division of Hospital Medicine.

Dr. Salvatore Cilmi

Dr. Cilmi is a graduate of Harvard College (summa cum laude) and Harvard Medical School. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), where he was also selected as Chief Resident in 2003-04. Following a clinical and research fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the MGH, he joined the faculty there as a Hospitalist and Assistant in Medicine in 2006. In his career at Harvard and the MGH, Dr. Cilmi garnered multiple teaching awards, including "Best Teacher in Internal Medicine (as Resident)" and "Best Teacher in Infectious Diseases (as Fellow)". He was also nominated each year for the Harvard Medical School Prize for Excellence in Teaching by the 3rd and 4th year medical students at Harvard.

We were very fortunate to recruit Dr. Cilmi last year as a member of our new Division of Hospital Medicine and as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Cilmi is an enormously gifted clinician-educator, and we congratulate him on his appointment as Associate Program Director for the residency program.
