Dr. Reidenberg

Dr. Marcus M. Reidenberg, Professor of Medicine, Pharmacology, and Public Health, and Chief of the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, was recently honored by the Weill Cornell Office of Community Service and Student Affairs with the creation of the Marcus M. Reidenberg Award in Community Service. Upon hearing of the creation of the Award, Dr. Reidenberg said, "It is always thrilling for a teacher to get this kind of acknowledgement from one's students. I feel very honored and appreciative of this award's naming."

Beginning this year, the Award will recognize student groups or initiatives that provide an outstanding contribution to the community. Rather than individual forms of recognition, the new award recognizes groups and organizations, while formally acknowledging the collective efforts of medical students. Candidates (groups) are nominated by medical students, and chosen by votes of medical students and faculty.

The Marcus M. Reidenberg Award honors Dr. Reidenberg's life-long commitment to community service, in addition to the teaching, research, and patient care that have defined his career as a physician-scientist. When he was Chair of the Faculty Board of the Weill Cornell Community Service Program, Dr. Reidenberg took a leading role in creating the Honors in Service Award for medical students. The Office of Community Service and Student Affairs is accepting nominations for the Marcus M. Reidenberg Award until March 29, 2013. The Award's recipients will be formally announced in May.
