Gastroenterology and Hepatology

Information for Fellowship Applicants

Dear Fellowship Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship Program at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center to begin July 1, 2014.

Our fellowship program offers a full range of conferences and extensive interaction with highly skilled gastrointestinal pathologists, interventional and diagnostic radiologists, and surgeons. In addition, our fellows have the opportunity to work with and teach an outstanding group of Weill Cornell medical students and house officers. Six months of the fellowship is protected for participation in clinical or basic research and a didactic program is available for training in clinical investigation involving course work in epidemiology, clinical trial study design, biostatistics, outcomes assessment, and ethics of research. Major clinical programs and research efforts are based in our Hepatitis C Center, Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health, Jill Roberts Center for Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and the Center for Liver Diseases and Transplantation.

Applications will be accepted from July 1, 2013 - August 1, 2013. Our fellowship program participates in the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS). We only review complete application packages.

A complete application package consists of all requirements in ERAS including:
• Curriculum Vitae
• Personal Statement
• 3 letters of recommendation; one of which must be from Program Director or Chief of Service

We will have two positions available for three years of training which satisfy all the requirements of the American Board of Internal Medicine for clinical training in gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition; performance of diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures; and instruction in gastrointestinal and hepatic biology and pathophysiology. Fellows also have meaningful rotations through our busy ERCP and Endoscopic Ultrasound services.

We will issue invitations for interviews in August and September 2013. Details on the match can be obtained from the NRMP's website at www.nrmp.org and a listing of programs participating in the match can be found on the Education and Training Section of www.gastro.org.

If you have any questions about the application process, please contact our Fellowship Program Office at 646-962-4700. Again, thank you for your interest in our program. Good luck in your career choice.

Sincerely yours,

Brian P. Bosworth, MD
